'Appalling and simply not acceptable.'
That is how police described the disgusting mess they had to clear up after selfish campers left a trail of destruction behind them, including a fire that had not been put out properly.
A spokesperson for Purbeck Police said: "Reports at Studland of overnight camping. We attended the scene with the National Trust and found this complete mess left.
"Unfortunately for the people who decided to leave with the fire still warm and their rubbish sprawled all over the area, you also left personal details for me to find. You will hear from the police in due course and this will be followed up."
Police then had to move on 30 overnight campers from South Beach in Studland.
