BOURNEMOUTH charity Helping Homeless Veterans UK are to host a Big Sleep In event tonight to highlight the many thousands of veterans struggling to find shelter during the coronavirus pandemic.

The veterans charity is encouraging people to sleep anywhere but their own beds for one night this evening.

Having set up a crowdfunding page for the event to raise money in order to fund their voluntary work in housing homeless veterans, the charity have already reached their £1,000 target.

Helping Homeless Veterans UK CEO David Wood said: “Most of these veterans are hidden away in hostels and B&Bs, or sofa surfing with family and friends, as well as sleeping in vehicles.

“The event is all about raising awareness as well as vital funds to help us continue our work in the community during these difficult times.

“We are asking everyone to share their photos on social media on our event’s page
