Meet the newest additions to Dorset.

Here we celebrate extra special arrivals, many of whom came into the world at Dorset County Hospital (DCH) in Dorchester - and further afield.

Dorset Echo:

Dexter Aedan Watkins, born May 10, weighing 10 lbs at DCH to parents Sasha Louise Watkins and Ben Robert Watkins of Weymouth.

Proud mum Sasha says: "We opted for a home birth, though baby had a different idea. We laboured at home for three days before being transferred to hospital for induction as I'd stuck at 7cm. After a 72 hour labour...baby Dexter arrived via emergency C section on the 10th may at 12:52pm and we couldn't be more in love with him. Our perfect, precious little boy."

Dorset Echo:

Isla-Rose Watson, born April 22 weighing 7lbs, 5oz at Yeovil District Hospital to Jordan Eden, and Kieron Watson. Jordan is from Bridport

Dorset Echo:

Adele West, born May 16 weighing 6lb12oz at DCH to parents Sammy Morgan and George West of Dorchester. Little sister to George and Noah.

Sammy tells us: "As no-one could come visit and support me because of coronavirus, my family and partner all came to the hospital and stood outside my window with a banner saying 'You are not alone'. It was so needed. They're my absolute world, all of them."

Dorset Echo:

Olivia Budge at 8 weeks old. She was born on April 10, weighing 10lb 8oz at Dorset County Hospital to parents Amie House and Daniel Budge of Bovington.

Amie tells us: "Olivia Budge was born at 1.09pm in Dorchester by emergency C Section. Olivia unfortunately had Meconium, by swallowing her own poop, and was put in special care unit where she was in antibiotics for five days.
"For a week before Olivia was born I had latent labour (slow labour), which was constant contractions, not being able to sleep, move, eat or even feel any type of comfort.

"The whole situation was very overwhelming. We were having a home birth, but Olivia got stuck at 8cm for 9 hours so with that we got rushed to hospital, as the poor girl was getting stressed.

"The whole situation was completely unexpected as these things are, but she was born safely and very well looked after.

"She is absolutely gorgeous and a very special, content baby."

Dorset Echo:

Grayson Aynsley Scadding at one week old, born at DCH on May 26 weighing 6lb 3.5oz to Carley Pearson and Aynsley Scadding of Bridport.

Carley tells us: "The midwives ruptured my membranes (burst my waters) at 7am after a two day induction in which my partner couldn’t join me due to Covid-19.

"After a day contracting I was 3cm dilated. I then felt a massive change 15 minutes later, after being checked again I was 8cm dilated. I began pushing at 17:04 and my lovely baby was born at 17:24, we are so in love with him and so happy to begin our life as parents. Even in the lockdown!

"Thanks to the midwives at DCH my stay was not lonely and I felt supported and respected the entire stay. 24 hours after Grayson’s birth we went home!"
