A SOFTWARE company founded only four years ago by a Bournemouth University graduate has won a global award.

Bournemouth-based Cold Banana took the Best Cloud Solution title awarded by content management system Umbraco.

Cold Banana, which was founded by Bournemouth University alumnus Luke Fribbens and has 18 staff, was shortlisted in two categories at the Umbraco Codegarden awards, traditionally held in Odense, Denmark. It won for its work with Imperial Brands.

This year’s awards were given out online because of the coronavirus crisis.

Mr Fribbens accepted the prize in a video message but had champagne sent to each member of his team.

He said: “It seems a very strange time to be celebrating anything at the moment, but I am super proud of the whole team and their efforts over the last 18 months to build a system to win this amazing global award.

“Covid and lockdown has been tough on the business and the individuals within it and I can’t wait to get back together as a team so we can celebrate properly.”
