AROUND half a dozen traveller caravans and motor homes moved onto a Bournemouth recreation ground on Tuesday.

Neighbours told the Daily Echo they understood the vehicles had moved onto Kinson Manor Playing Fields late in the afternoon.

The fields, off The Broadway, Northbourne, are a popular place with joggers and local residents.

One resident, who asked not to be named, said: "If they're only here for a short time and there are no problems, than it won't be an issue.

"Although, there will be lots around here that don't see it the same way."

BCP Council's unauthorised encampment portal page says: "We are aware of an unauthorised encampment consisting of seven caravans and associated vehicles at Kinson Manor Playing Fields.  A needs and risk assessment has been undertaken.

"The site will be monitored regularly and options considered in line with Government advice on managing encampments during the pandemic."
