A driver thought he could make it 20 miles home with a destroyed tyre.
The Peugeot was stopped by Dorset Police No Excuse Team late last night (Saturday).
A spokesman said: "Officers first heard this vehicle coming towards them, then when it came into view it was obvious it had a problem with a tyre.
"Unbelievably, when stopped the driver stated he thought he could make it home as he believed it was a problem with the clutch or gear box. Why would you continue to drive if it doesn't sound right? What state was the tyre in when he set off? We will never know.
"Common sense though, if in doubt please stop somewhere safe and check your vehicle. It could save lives and unnecessary repair bills. Vehicle was recovered at his expense."
After stopping this driver close to Derby's Corner, Poole, officers recorded a vehicle doing 106mph on the A35.
The spokesman added: "The driver was that oblivious to his surroundings, he didn't even notice the blue lights behind him. When asked why he simply replied, 'I wasn't aware'. Hopefully he will pay attention to the judge."
