Bournemouth look to improve on a sequence of just one win in four Hampshire/Surrey Regional League matches when they visit Barnes on Thameside on Saturday.

They were held to a 3-3 draw by basement boys Andover, having held a 3-1 lead at Chapel Gate.

Bournemouth were forced to play catch up as they endeavoured to wipe out Alan Walker's 15th-minute penalty corner strike.

But Bournemouth's own short corner pressure paid off when Greg Turpin touched an equaliser from Tim Stainer's pass.

The hosts were surprisingly denied a penalty flick when Turpin's goalbound shot struck an Andover foot, but shortly afterwards the influential Ben Major got the second to give Bournemouth a 2-1 advantage.

Major struck again - his fifth goal of the season - shortly after half-time and when Andover were briefly reduced to nine men by two yellow cards.

But Andover refused to give in - Tom Cole reducing the arrears before Walker grabbed an equaliser two minutes from time.

  • Bournemouth ladies overcame the shock of conceding an early goal to beat Slazenger EHA National South League rivals Woking 2-1.

They were behind after just three minutes - Woking holding on to a third minute strike by Hannah Oakes until the second half. Kelly Taylor equalised before Emily Bloxham hit Bournemouth's winner nine minutes from the end.

The victory keeps Bournemouth fourth - three points behind second placed Swansea - but with a massive game against top dogs Staines at Chapel Gate on Saturday (2pm).
