WIMBORNE Wayfarers ladies continued their fightback in Channel Division One with a comfortable 3-0 victory over Yeovil and Sherborne at QE.

Wimborne had most of the meaningful possession and opened the scoring when Gemma Newson-Smith touched in from their first short corner.

Natasha Hann doubled the lead with a fine solo goal before half-time and Vikki Wildsmith sealed the victory from a penalty corner five minutes from time.

Wimborne are now third in the table.

Wayfarers' second string are leading Division Two following their 2-1 victory at Salisbury.

And the club's men dominated the early play at Blandford before relinquishing a two-goal lead to lose 3-2.

  • Swanage and Wareham ladies were on the wrong end of the same scoreline as they were defeated at BAC (Bristol). Their goals came from Lin Thompson, Liz Goldsack and Alex Bailey.
  • Sam Butterfield's hat-trick came to nothing for Poole as they lost 5-3 against Gosport.
