CARNIVAL fun arrived in Corfe Mullen on June 11, 2000, and marked the end of a week of millennium celebrations.
Decorated floats filled the streets with colour as dozens of stall and demonstrations provided entertainment at the recreation ground off Bradbury View Road.
For the third year running Corfe Mullen Royal British Legion scooped first prize for its float.
The club had spent six months planning its entry which was on the theme of Euro 2000 - a mini football pitch complete with referee and cheering crowds which received a warm reception along the crowd-lined streets.
Funds raised at the event were donated to Hadleigh Lodge, the area’s medical practice.
And to join in the fun staff from the centre entered a float – with doctors dressed as nurses and nurses dressed as doctors – which was awarded second prize.
