A MAN was arrested on suspicion of assault occasioning actual bodily harm after a woman was found with a head injury in Gillingham.

Police received a report at 12.05am on May 30 that a woman had been found with an injury to her head near Addison Close. She was taken to hospital for treatment

A 33-year-old local man was arrested and police are appealing for witnesses to come forward.

Detective constable George Graham, of Weymouth CID, said: “We are carrying out a full investigation to establish how the woman came to be injured and I am appealing for anyone with information to please come forward.

“I am keen to hear from anyone who witnessed or hear a disturbance or any suspicious activity in the area of Addison Close on the night of Friday May 29.

“I would also urge anyone who was driving in the area to check their dashcam footage and residents to check any home CCTV for anything relevant that night.

“Finally, I would encourage anyone who has come across any discarded items such as clothing in the area to contact us.”
