A CHARITY from Poole is appealing to residents to display yellow ribbons in memory of loved ones in their windows and gardens at home during the month of June as part of National Hospice Awareness Month.

Each year Forest Holme Hospice hosts Tie a Yellow Ribbon, a special commemorative event where members of the public are invited to make a dedication to a loved one.

However, as the hospice is unable to host the event on Thursday June 18 under the current Government guidelines, they are looking to expand the yellow ribbon display out into the local community and encourage people to create visual reminders to display at their homes.

Paul Tucker, Fundraising Manager at Forest Holme, said: “Tie A Yellow Ribbon is a very special date in the hospice calendar as it brings the community together in joint celebration of our loved ones who are absent in body, but remain with us in spirit.

“It is open to anyone who has lost a loved one and wants to make a dedication in memory of them, irrespective of whether they were at Forest Holme.”

The hospice has produced a ribbon template and a step by step guide that are available on its website, and they are asking the public to share their photographs via its social media pages.
