A MAN who stole more than £500 worth of meat from a Co-op store over seven visits has been jailed for 22 weeks.

Gerard Joseph William Gibbs was originally given a suspended prison sentence for the offences but appeared before magistrates again after committing more crimes.

He had been convicted of stealing meat with values ranging from £86.50 to £66 from Co-op in Wimborne Road, Moordown.

Gibbs had also been found guilty of possession of cannabis, interfering with a motor vehicle and being in possession of articles for use in the course of theft.

The offences took place in Bournemouth between February and May this year.

The 38-year-old, of Muscliffe Road, Bournemouth, appeared again on Tuesday May 19 and admitted stealing plumbing and heating equipment worth £740 and dishonestly retaining stolen power tools worth £1,380.

He was jailed for 22 weeks and ordered to pay a £128 victim surcharge.
