REPORTS of an armed police response in a residential area of Bournemouth came in relation to a disturbance at an address in Winton.

Residents reported seeing the "large" officer presence at around 10.30pm on Thursday in Birch Drive, Townsend.

Police are said to have remained in the area on Friday morning and a vehicle was reportedly seized.

When contacted by the Daily Echo about this incident, a Dorset Police spokesman said it was part of ongoing inquiries in relation to an incident earlier on May 21.

The spokesman said: "Dorset Police was called at 1.17pm on Thursday, May 21, to a report of a disturbance involving three men who had attended an address on Wimborne Road in Bournemouth.

"Officers attended and carried out searches of the area, as well as enquiries at a number of addresses.

"A 33-year-old Bournemouth man has been arrested in connection with the incident and is assisting officers with their enquiries.

"An investigation is ongoing to identify all the individuals involved and establish the full circumstances of the incident."
