A PATIENT who had tested positive for coronavirus died in a Dorset hospital last week - taking the number of deaths for COVID-19 patients in the county to 143.
Figures released by NHS England show the death took place on May 12 in a Dorset Healthcare University NHS Foundation Trust setting.
At present, this is the only Dorset hospital death for a patient who had contracted cornavirus since May 11.
Across England there were a further 166 hospital deaths confirmed in the latest daily release, bringing the national total to 25,080.
The patients who died were aged between 33 and 99 years old. Five of the 166 patients - aged between 54 and 70 - had no known underlying health condition. Their families have been informed.
To date, 61 people have died in the Royal Bournemouth and Christchurch Hospitals Trust, with 45 deaths in Poole Hospital, 23 in the Dorset County Hospital and 14 in the Dorset Healthcare University Trust.
