COASTGUARDS have warned visitors to the beach that there are no lifeguards on duty.

The coastline is expected to be busy today as forecasters predict it will be the hottest day of the year so far.

Warm, sunny days are also forecast for next week when many people are likely to be off work because it would have been the school half term holiday.

A spokesman for Southbourne Coastguard said: "Please don’t forget that should you see anyone in trouble on the coast, or at sea, don’t hesitate to call 999 or 112 and ask for the Coastguard. We would much rather have a false alarm with good intent than not receive a call at all.

"Please also don’t forget that beaches in the area are not currently manned by lifeguards, so please do take extra care."
