REFUSE trucks across the New Forest are helping to raise awareness of vital domestic abuse services after being fitted with banners of support.
Six of the district Council’s vehicles now have posters advising victims that ‘you don’t have to suffer in silence’ and providing contact details for the Hampshire Domestic Abuse Service.
The Safer New Forest Partnership consists of partner agencies including New Forest District Council, Hampshire Constabulary, Hampshire Fire and Rescue, Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) and Probation.
Cllr Diane Andrews, Portfolio Holder for Community Affairs said: “Tackling domestic abuse, including support for victims and perpetrators, remains one of the priorities for the Safer New Forest Partnership.
“Providing access and information to victims is one of the key priorities to enable victims to make positive choices and increase their ability to live free from of harm.
“Together the partnership works towards reducing crime and anti-social behaviour to make the New Forest a safer place to live, work and visit.”
Operating out of each of the Council’s three depots, the lorries will ensure the message is seen across all areas of the district.
