A FIRE broke out at a Bournemouth property in the early hours of Saturday morning.

The fire service received reports of a fire in the back room of a house on Cardigan Road in Winton at 2.46am.

It was reported people may still be inside with others in the back garden unable to get around to the front of the building to safety.

Fire crews from Redhill Park, Springbourne and Westbourne fire stations attended.

On arrival, fire crews found smoke coming from the property and located the fire in a downstairs bedroom.

It was extinguished using four firefighters in breathing apparatus with two hose reels.

Crews also used a positive pressure ventilation fan to deal with the smoke.

The fire has damaged the bedroom.

The cause of the fire is not yet known.

All occupants were accounted for and no rescues were required.

British Red Cross also assisted as the scene due to the property “becoming uninhabitable.”
