RESIDENTS in Parkstone spent the first weekend in May painting large rainbows on a fence on Constitution Hill to spread joy amid the coronavirus outbreak.

Parkstone Heights residents Amanda and Andy Gratwick decided to paint a small rainbow on their fence with their young boys, but wanted to go one step further and paint the entire fence.

The pair put out a message out for any paint and volunteers to help them with their colourful mission and the response exceeded their expectations.

Local resident Julie Williams helped paint the rainbow: "Andy drew the rainbow out in sections so that we could work safely apart from each other. A lot of us went along over last weekend at various times to paint the fence and we are really chuffed with the result.

"Amanda says they have seen lots of people with smiles on their faces taking photos."
