FIRE crews from across Dorset battled a heath fire at the Bourne Valley nature reserve.
Emergency services were called to the fire, near Bloxworth Road in Poole, at 6.18pm last night.
Fire engines from Westbourne, Redhill Park, Springbourne, Ferndown, Poole and Wareham were in attendance.
Two off-road Land Rovers were also involved in the operation.
A spokesman for Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue said the fire was contained and under control within an hour.
The cause of the blaze is not yet known.
