POLICE officers are continuing to investigate if any offences were committed following an emergency service response that saw two boys being rescued out at sea in a dinghy without a rudder or sail.
As reported, RNLI, coastguard, ambulance and police resources were sent to deal with the incident on Friday night after reports of two people being swept out to sea off Hengistbury Head.
Volunteers from the Mudeford RNLI service located two teenage boys in the vessel. They were reportedly cold and were not wearing life jackets.
It was reported that the dinghy was being swept out towards Swanage after the boys had lost their paddle overboard.
The boys, aged 15 and 16, were taken back to Mudeford Quay lifeboat station, where they received treatment from the ambulance service before being spoken to by police.
A Dorset Police spokesperson said: "At 8.19pm on Friday, May 1, Dorset Police received a request from the coastguard for assistance in relation to two people were being swept out to sea in a dinghy off Hengistbury Head.
"Officers attended and it was subsequently reported that the two people had been rescued and were being taken to Mudeford Quay Lifeboat Station.
