DORSET MPs have sent their best wishes to Prime Minister Boris Johnson, after he was placed in intensive care at St Thomas' Hospital in London.

Richard Drax, MP for South Dorset, said: "Obviously I, like all of my colleagues, wish him the best and a full recovery.

"He's coping with the mother of his child also being ill and they haven't been able to be together so it must be a very tricky time, particularly for Boris because he has gone into hospital in intensive care.

"I'm not surprised that he has got it when you think he has been working flat out and having to mix with people and visiting hospitals, as you have to as Prime Minister, before the lockdown.

"All of those in the thick of it will be at increased risk and that includes carers et al working through it.

"We are absolutely indebted to all those working on the front line and I'm in contact with several of them. They are doing the most incredible job and we are all absolutely indebted to them."

Chris Loder, MP for West Dorset, said: "On behalf of all of us in West Dorset, I send my best wishes to the Prime Minister and his family for a speedy recovery to see him back in Downing Street as soon as possible.

"The doctors and nurses of St Thomas’ Hospital in London are taking good care of him and in the meantime I am very confident that the Government will continue in its mission to protect all of us from Coronavirus under the interim leadership of Dominic Raab."
