A FIVE-year-old was stunned to see his entire street singing Happy Birthday to him during the coronavirus lockdown.

Sharing a birthday together, both Henry Brian and his mum Natalie, now 38, rushed outside after hearing several cheers and the famous song being sung by families in their cul-de-sac in Merley, Poole.

Despite having to cancel Henry's party, his father Robin decided to do something special and sneakily set up the surprise by texting his neighbours.

On Thursday April 3, families from ten houses on their road ensured Henry and his mum heard the birthday song at 10am, with one family holding up a banner in celebration - while keeping to social distancing measures.

Father and director of Jigsaw Specialist Recruitment, Robin Brian, said: "We had set up a Whatsapp group for the clap for carers every Thursday so I messaged some of the members - without Natalie knowing - to ask if everyone could sing Happy Birthday.

"Having a shared birthday is quite unusual as it is. So it made their day and was a touching sign of how communities are coming together and getting closer in light of a horrible situation.

"There was a real sense of community spirit and it made it very special."

Henry's seven-year-old sister Bethany also joined in by singing to her brother and mum on the day.

The family then ate birthday cake, played pass-the-parcel - with the help of his grandma who joined in through video app Facetime - and shared games together.
