DORSET Council has urged people to keep hold of waste they would usually take to recycling centres while they are closed during the COVID-19 pandemic.
It comes after a fridge, a washing machine and other household items were dumped near Uddens.
Matthew Boulter, head of commercial waste and strategy at Dorset Council, said: “Our officers were not aware of this fly-tip as it hadn’t been reported to us. We will dispatch a clean-up crew as quickly as possible and expect to have it cleared by end of Tuesday (31 March).
“With household recycling centres (HRCs) closed due to government restrictions regarding the coronavirus pandemic, it is more important than ever for everyone to remain vigilant.
“Our enforcement team is still actively investigating all reported fly-tips at this time and we are asking people to simply keep hold of any waste they would usually take to an HRC until normal service resumes.
“If you spot a fly-tip, please do not assume we are already aware. Go to www.dorsetcouncil.gov.uk/flytipping and report it. Thank you for your co-operation."
