A WEDDING photographer who has lost all her work during the coronavirus pandemic has turned her hand to a home schooling venture.

Sadie Osborne of Weymouth has set up Sadie's School for Young Snappers - photography tuition made fun for children.

She has created a free set of 'missions' which can be viewed on video sharing website YouTube.

Sadie said: "I have lost all my work for the summer as I am mainly a wedding photographer.

"Whilst this is incredibly upsetting, I have decided to try and stay positive and use my passion for photography to help the community with the new spare time that I have.

"I have a lot of friends that have children, I had been noticing that a lot of parents are having trouble when home schooling their children, normally problems of attention span and children getting distracted whilst attempting school bookwork.

"So an idea popped into my head, how can I help families have fun, stay active in the household and help with home schooling?"

Sadie decided to use the art of photography and set up Sadie's School of Snappers.

She said: "I have aimed the whole project at children so they find it engaging and have creative control.

"I have decided to deliver the project in a video format so it's fun and interactive. Each mission has an element of creativity, activeness, adventure and also developing learning skills.

"Some of the missions will have hidden educational development in them, but because photography is the forefront, the children will be learning educational aspects in a more subtle way."

An example of the activities on offer for youngsters is exploring a homes or garden, taking pictures of an object, then writing a short story about the object, then showing the picture to their family and telling the story.

Sadie currently has around 10 missions for families to get involved with which will be released one at a time.

She said: "During the project I am going to be running competitions, weekend photography lessons and giving out certificates etc. And if it goes well, I am thinking of bringing out an adult class."

There has already been a great response to the project.

"I am overwhelmed by how many people have taken part and found it fun, which makes me smile so much," Sadie said.

"Photography is my whole heart and complete passion. It is so wonderful to see the younger generation all taking part and seeing happiness through this somewhat sad 'lockdown' time."
