The National Police Air Service took pictures one of the 747s coming into land this morning.

They said: "The queen of the skies arrives gracefully at Bournemouth Airport this morning."

Resident Gary Owen also took some shots of the Jumbos coming in.

This increase in aircraft at Bournemouth comes as British Airways (BA) confirmed is was suspending all of its flights to and from Gatwick, as demand plummets due to the coronavirus pandemic.

A British Airways spokesman said: “Due to the considerable restrictions and challenging market environment, like many other airlines we will temporarily suspend our flying schedule at Gatwick.

“We are contacting affected customers to discuss their options.”

On the movement of its aircraft BA said things were changing every day.

Flight radar tracking websites have monitored the BA flights landing at Bournemouth Airport after taking off from London Heathrow.

These flights are taking around 26 minutes.

Earlier this week the Echo reported that more than 30 British Airways planes had parked up at Bournemouth Airport.

Stephen Bath, the former managing director of Bath Travel estimated the Dorset airport had at least a billion pounds worth of aircraft parked up.

He said: “I never thought I would ever see so many BA planes here at once, I think 37 out of a fleet of around 370.

“An unprecedented sight. Last time there were this many planes at Hurn was before the D-Day invasion.

Meanwhile, Virgin Atlantic confirmed they have three A340 airliners parked at Bournemouth, and that these aircraft have been retired from the fleet and will be passing to their new owner shortly.
