Jurassic Fields organisers say the festival will, at things stand, go ahead - but a warm-up event have been postponed.

A spokesman for the Bridport-based festival said: "We wish to assure our audience, traders and musicians that as we stand Jurassic Fields 2020 will be going ahead as planned in July.

"The safety and health of all visitors and staff is as always our main priority and we will be implementing recommendations and instructions appropriately, based on official guidance from Public Health England, the UK Government and local public health bodies as further information unfolds.

"We will continue to keep everyone up to date with new information being supplied daily. In the meantime, we are working tirelessly to bring you the best Jurassic Fields experience to date. We look forward to seeing you all this July.

"Stay safe and look after each other."

The event is due to be held on July 10-11.

The festival's inaugural Battle of the Bands competition, which had been due to launch yesterday has been postponed.

Organisers say they are working with Bridport Arts Centre to host the first heat later this year.

A spokesman said: "As the event is all about bringing all ages and walks of life to from across the country to Bridport, we have been advised to postpone."

The rearranged dates are:

Heat 1 - May 16

Heat 2 - June 6

Final - June 20
