NHS WORKERS are being celebrated tonight for their efforts with two special events.

A huge round of applause will be taking place tonight to say thanks to the NHS staff working tirelessly during this pandemic.

People are being asked to clap from 8pm, whether that be from your window, garden, local park or outside your front door.

Not only will people be sharing their appreciation through clapping, buildings across the UK including the Bournemouth International Centre will be illuminated in blue at 8pm.

The #lightitblue campaign is a message of thanks to our healthcare heroes, putting their lives on the line for us.

Landmarks, historic buildings and major sporting and entertainment venues across the country will be illuminated blue to shine a light on the importance of the NHS and the courageous efforts of everyone involved in our healthcare system.

The campaign also invites Britons to join in at home by creating blue-themed images and videos and sharing them online with #makeitblue.

Share your appreciation this evening by clapping and taking part in #lightitblue.
