A BURGLAR caught with stolen money in his possession has been jailed for three years.

Hardial Spall, 39, of Bournemouth Road, Poole, was sentenced to three years in prison at Bournemouth Crown Court on Tuesday March 24 after admitting a charge of burglary.

At around 5.15pm on Friday January 31 Spall was seen in the rear garden of a property on Victoria Road, Poole. The owner challenged Spall as to why he was there and he said he was mistakenly at the wrong house, before walking away down Lucas Road.

The victim then noticed that the window pane near the rear glass door had been smashed and found that a quantity of cash had been stolen and damage caused to a cupboard.

The victim reported the burglary to police and officers were able to locate Spall in the driveway of his home address. Spall was searched and was found to be in possession of the stolen money and officers noted his coat had glass particles on the back. He was arrested.

Following further enquiries, Spall’s footwear was found to match a shoe impression recovered from the scene by a Crime Scene Investigation officer.

Police Constable Liam Moss, of Dorset Police’s Priority Crime Team, said: “I am pleased that through our investigations we were able to identify Hardial Spall as the man responsible for this offence so he could face justice at court.

“We appreciate the distress that can be caused by having an intruder force their way into your home and we will do all we can to ensure those who commit burglaries are identified and held accountable for their actions.”
