A NUMBER of community groups across Dorset have been set up on social media in response to the recent crackdown on the Covid-19 virus with people offering their services to help the elderly and the vulnerable.

So far nine Facebook groups covering the whole country have been established with people offering to pick up shopping, giving advice on where to find certain items and sharing public notices.

Residents are also being encouraged to distribute helping hand forms to those who are self-isolating. people are filing out forms with what they are able to help with and posting them through letter boxes in order to help those that are staying at home.

The Covid-19 Community Support Group - Bournemouth, Christchurch & Poole was set up by Tim Beer on Friday March 13 and already the group has over 12,000 members.
