FIRE ENGINES rushed to a fish and chip shop following reports of a fire at the weekend.
Firefighters “kicked through” the door at Karsberg’s Fish & Chips on Saturday night after receiving an emergency call at around 10.15pm.
Crews from Ferndown, Redhill, Poole and Westbourne Fire Stations attended the incident in Turbary Road, Ferndown.
However, the restaurant’s owners said nothing was damaged and there was no fire. The restaurant had been smoked out by a pile of batter cuttings. It had been closed at the time.
A spokesperson for Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue service said: “At 10.14pm we received a call to a fire in a fish and chip shop in Turbary Road, Ferndown.
“Appliances from Ferndown, Redhill, Poole and Westbourne were mobilised to the incident. The responding crews found a fire located inside a fryer, and two firefighters wearing breathing apparatus extinguished the fire by removal.”
