The Royal Bournemouth & Christchurch Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust have been crowned the winner of the Special Mention Award at the Unsung Hero Awards.

This national awards ceremony was held at the Hilton Hotel in Manchester and celebrated the Non-Medical and Non-Clinical NHS Staff and Volunteers of the NHS for all their hard work and achievements in their various roles.

NHS staff were asked to nominate their Unsung Hero based on their exceptional work ethic, drive for innovation, quality of interpersonal skills and outstanding achievements.

This prestigious award was taken home by Michael Bryan for his contributions to the technological advances in the NHS.

His app, 'FaceX' is being used by GP’s and Hospital Trusts to provide a highly individualised diagnosis of Parkinson’s disease.

This innovative app was inspired by the passing of Michael’s father who had Parkinson’s disease when Michael was just eight years old.

Since Michael's initial development, he has diagnosed just under 1200 people whilst testing the app-based technology in GP clinics and hospital Trusts across England.

Michael's nominator said: "Michael is only 18 and what he has done is not only outstanding, but has been achieved through a drive for innovation, a passion for helping others and an exceptional work ethic."
