A WOMAN was choked in a late night attack at Poole Quay by a man she had met in a bar earlier in the evening.

The victim, a woman aged in her 40s, had been out with friends in Soho bar on Old Orchard Road.

She was approached by a man and they chatted throughout the evening before leaving together at around 1.30am on Sunday, December 8, and walking to the bandstand on the Quay.

The man put his jacket over the victim’s head as it was raining and began speaking to her in another language, which she did not understand. He then proceeded to put his fingers around her windpipe and squeezed, causing her to choke. She tried to pull away but he used his other arm to restrain her.

The man then let go and the victim returned to Soho Bar and ordered a taxi home. The victim did not sustain any injuries that required hospital treatment.

Police launched an investigation into the assault and have now issued a CCTV image of someone they would like to speak to.

PC Daniel Goodman, of Poole police, said: “We have been continuing to investigate this incident and have now obtained a CCTV image of someone we would like to speak to.

“I would ask anyone who recognises the man pictured to please get in touch.”
