A TEENAGER who fled a taxi without paying an £8.20 fare has appeared before the courts.

Mohamed Yaba admitted making off from the taxi in Wimborne Road, Bournemouth on December 22, last year, without paying.

The 18-year-old also admitted assaulting a man by beating him in the same road on the same day.

A Dorset Police spokeswoman said they were called to Wimborne Road at 11.21pm on December 22, 2019, to reports of an assault.

Yaba, of Wimborne Road, Bournemouth, appeared at Poole Magistrates' Court on March 3.

He was handed a community order, which set out an overnight curfew. This will be monitored for four weeks through an electronic tag.

Magistrates also issued a £100 fine and order to pay a £90 surcharge and £85 costs.
