A MAN has been spared jailed after assaulting a female police officer in the back of a police car in Bournemouth.

Kyle John Butler, 32, admitted a count of assault by beating PC Roberts on October 18, 2019.

The incident took place while the police car was parked in Lansdowne Road, Bournemouth.

Appearing before Poole Magistrates' Court on Tuesday, March 3, Butler, of Everest Road, Christchurch, changed his plea to guilty having previously denied the charge against him.

He was handed a eight-week prison sentence, suspended for 12 months. He was ordered to pay £150 compensation and £400 costs.

Butler admitted a breach of a community order made by magistrates in October last year for an offence of assault by beating in Christchurch last summer.

For this breach, he was committed to prison for eight weeks concurrent, also suspended for 12 months.
