A last minute weather warning for heavy rain has been issued for Dorset today.

The Met Office warning was issued at around 8.30am this morning and says flooding and travel disruption is possible.

The yellow weather alert is valid from 10am until 6pm this evening and covers Bournemouth, Poole and the rest of the county.

A spokesperson for the Met Office said: “Rain will become persistent, with some heavy bursts at times. 10 to 20 mm rain is likely to fall widely, with up to 30 mm in a few places. Given saturated ground, this may lead to some localised flooding.

“The rain will slowly clear from the west later this afternoon and early evening.”

There are currently no warnings in force for the next few days.
