A DRIVER was shocked to get a £200 fine and six penalty points after admitting to police: "I was reading a text from a friend."
Officers from the Dorset Police No Excuse team stopped this van in Hamworthy this afternoon.
A spokesman said: "Did you know that the fine and a points for using your phone whilst driving is 6 points and a £200 fine? This driver didn't.
"Officers from the team were on patrol in Hamworthy when they saw the driver of this van texting whilst driving. When he was stopped he fully admitted the offence, he said 'I was reading a text from a friend.' The driver was told that he would be getting six points and receiving a £200 fine. He was shocked by this."
