A GROUP of students from Arts University Bournemouth are to host a brand-new Short Film Festival at Chaplin’s and Cellar Bar in Boscombe.

The event has been organised by five Creative Events Management students, Elise Williamson, Ed Sharp, Anastasia Scott, Charles Shenton and Phoebe Robbins.

PEACE of FILM Festival aims to showcase nationwide film talent based around conflict and resolution.

Technician Charles Shenton said: “I am really excited to bring people together through a shared love of film.”

Judging the short films will be BAFTA Winning Actress Eva Pope, known for “Waterloo Road”, “Bad Girls” and “Life on Mars, BAFTA Winning BBC Producer Steve Ryde, Artist Mark Blatchford, CEO and Founder of Film Expo South Gillian Tulley, Music Score Specialist and Founder of Musicalities Ivan Chandler.

The judges will choose between 15 short films, produced by local upcoming filmmakers, covering a range of topics, from the afterlife, to domestic violence and the relationship between a moth and a candle.

The awards that are on offer will be the Industry Choice Award, to be awarded by the judges, and Public Choice Award, to be chosen by the public.

The event will be between 12pm-3pm and 3pm-6pm for filmmakers networking session along with awards ceremony.

Assistant Producer Ed Sharp, 18, said: “I am looking forward to seeing people’s reaction to really interesting and thought-provoking films.”

Client Liaison Anastasia Scott, 19, added: “I can’t wait to host the event alongside my associates and show off the amazing films that us students have to offer.”

The 15 films will be shown in three blocks consisting of five films. Visitors can purchase tickets for a block of films for £2 or for the whole event at a cost of £4.
