SALISBURY Cathedral will be closed to visitors all day today (Saturday, February 29).

This is due to a centenary service being held in the cathedral for The Royal Corps of Signals. Around 1,200 soldiers, veterans and cadets are expected to attend.

HRH The Princess Royal, who is Colonel-in-Chief of the Royal Corps of Signals, will also be attending the service.

Other businesses in the Close will be open as usual.

Between 6am and 5pm the only pedestrian access to the Close will be via the High Street Gate.

A Tweet posted by Salisbury Cathedral yesterday said:

Temporary road closures will take effect between 9.50am and 10.30am and 2pm - 2.45pm, when North Walk and West Walk will be closed to traffic and pedestrian access restricted.

A statement on The Salisbury Museum website said: "We have been advised that there will be security searches at the High Street Gate, so if you are planning to visit the museum, it worth allowing extra time and to plan to avoid the times when West Walk and North Walk are closed to traffic and public access is restricted."
