POLICE have vowed to take action to stamp out anti-social behaviour on Weymouth Esplanade.

There have been long-standing complaints of groups drinking and causing trouble in the seafront shelters.

Police moved in yesterday to deal with more troublemakers.

A spokesman for Weymouth and Portland Police said: "We are aware of the ongoing anti-social behaviour in the seafront shelters and are taking action to address it.

"The team are carrying out regular patrols alongside the Weymouth Community Safety Patrol Officers.

"Groups have been moved on today and those who continue to cause problems will be dealt with using ASB legislation.

"This isn't always a quick process as we have to gather evidence of specific behaviour. Information provided to us by members of the community is vitally important.

"Please continue to report incidents to us using 101@dorset.pnn.police.uk and provide us with as much detail as you can such as descriptions and actions of those involved.

"Your support as always is appreciated. Thank you."
