I WONDER how many more choices can be removed from ordinary people’s lives.

The latest problem is parking. It’s now virtually impossible to find somewhere to park in Boscombe which does not only accept cards.

The change has been so sudden that I have been caught out twice by it.

The first time was in the car park in Hawkwood Road, when I did insert a card and it showed up the time I asked for, but then did not issue a ticket.

The second time, I was trying to reach the library quickly before it closed, and then realised I had left my card at home. Never mind, I thought, I will park in Sainsbury’s, but oh dear, now it has gone onto the cards.

The most ridiculous was when I came out of a successful appointment at Royal Bournemouth Hospital and the car park I was in only took cards, so I had to walk all the way to the entrance to find that even it only took cards. I felt more ill after all the walking than I had in the hospital.

What has happened to our society?

Why are more and more choices being taken away from people? Am I the only person who does not want a cashless society with high technology dominating everything?
