ORGANISERS and backers have heralded the successful return of a light-themed festival in Poole.
Light Up Poole took over large areas of the town centre from Thursday, February 20, to Saturday, February 22.
The digital light art festival, which is led by Arts Council England, Poole Business Improvement District (BID) and Audacious, used the theme ‘Spectrum’ to deliver a range of exhibits and installations.
Angela Morrow, of Poole BID said: “Light Up Poole this year was another fantastic event celebrating the creativity and diverse landscape of Poole.
“It was great to see so many people coming to the town to see the installations, this is a truly family friendly event and Poole BID was delighted to be the main sponsor again for 2020.
“The BID is passionate about making Poole a vibrant place to live, work and visit and these events support both the local community and local businesses, attracting thousands of people over the three day event.”
This year’s festival included indoor ticketed events at Lighthouse for the first time, as well as the established areas around the town that were free to visit and enjoy.
The event, which is now in its third year, is also backed by BCP Council and a range of local businesses.
Light Up Poole has provided a platform to showcase the work of local, emerging and international artists, with a series of commissioned digital light art installations and projections also providing an illuminating experience.
