THIS weeks winner of Bouquet of the Week is a selfless member of the community.

Frances Brown has nominated Nicola Jackson, for her continued work in bringing happiness to those who need it most.

Frances Brown said: “I would like to nominate Nicola Jackson who is working with Focus Family Team, to give every young person the opportunity to attend their school celebration without a price tag.

“Nicola is involved with many charities, such as mental health, and several others.

“She tirelessly gives her time and energy to help others.

“She also does the keswick to barrow raising even more money for good causes.

“Well done Nicola.”

Nicola is currently in charge of the ‘A Prom For All’, which is a scheme which aims to help children who are in need to receive a free prom outfit, alleviating the stress of what should be a celebratory time.

Nicola Jackson is hoping that ‘A Prom For All’ will aid to fight the stigma against wearing second hand outfits for even the classiest of occasions.

She said: “My ultimate aim is to change the culture so that young people see that it’s okay to wear outfits that are not brand new.

“It is meant to be a celebration of their education but there is a lot of pressure.”

Frances Brown said: “She’s doing such a good job with the project she works on.”

The pair met when they worked together at the fire station.

Frances said: “We used to work together many years ago.

“I was a volunteer at the fire station.

“Nicola was our coordinator, she told me what to do.

“She has always been involved in charitable things.

“She’s putting in a lot of time and effort.

“I think that someone who puts in so much time and so much effort within the community deserves to get the credit and deserves to get the recognition.

“Although, she doesn’t do it for the praise, she does it because she cares for the community.”
