TWO hospital workers who met at Furness General have tied the knot in an intimate setting with their nearest and dearest.

Lauren Young, 23, a staff nurse and Daniel Davey, 29, a clinical support worker first crossed paths seven years ago when they were both working at Furness General Hospital.

The pair soon became firm friends before the relationship blossomed into romance.

The now Mrs Davey said: "We met at work about seven years ago.

"We were friends at first more than anything then we both moved away and got closer.

"That’s when we both started talking again and things started to change."

Mrs Davey said she was first attracted to her husband's sense of humour.

"I really liked his sense of humour straight away," she said.

"He doesn’t take himself too seriously and he's quite witty.

"It's definitely his humour which caught my attention."

The couple had their first date at a pub in Ulverston.

"At the time we worked together so we tried to keep it on the down low until it was serious," she said.

Four years later, the couple became engaged the night before Mrs Davey's graduation.

"It was the night before my graduation and we had a nice meal with my family," she said.

"Then he proposed after we had the meal with a booklet full of photos of the little boy we have together.

"I was completely shocked, I didn't expect it at all.

"It was important to me he did it in front of my family too.

"It was really romantic and unexpected."

A year later the couple tied the knot at the Ryebeck Hotel in Bowness-On-Windermere in front of 54 of their nearest and dearest.

"We wanted to keep it quite small and intimate, with only our close family and friends," Mrs Davey said.

"Walking down the aisle was definitely an emotional moment of the day for both of us.

"It was important for our little boy, Joseph, to be involved in the ceremony too.

"He gave us the rings, and was a bit overwhelmed by it all, but we loved him being there.

Despite Storm Ciara causing an out pour of rainfall, Mrs Davey said it did not dampen the happy couple's spirits.

"It was everything I'd dreamed of and more, despite the horrific weather," she said.

"It was just perfect."

The couple are planning on going on a family-moon to Turkey in June.

Mrs Davey said: "We’ve been before and loved it. There's loads for Joseph to do too."

The couple would like to thank a number of people for making their day so special.

These include: the bride’s mum, Hazel Kennett and the bride’s step-dad, Mike Kennett, as well as the bride’s dad, Russell young, and both grooms’ parents, Linda Davey and Mike Davey.

They would also like to thank the photographer Steve Hillman, Happy Tiers for their wedding cake, Floral and Hardy and all the staff at The Ryebeck hotel
