A HOSPICE charity based in Poole is hoping to step up fundraising efforts with several new events and initiatives – including a presence at Bournemouth's Christmas Tree Wonderland.

Lewis-Manning Hospice Care has appointed Carly Jervis-Goode as charity ambassador, with the aim of helping to develop and deliver three projects to support fundraising efforts.

She has agreed to help develop and deliver three important projects to support fundraising:

  • The development of a Christmas Memory Tree, which will become part of the famous Christmas Winter Wonderland in Bournemouth Gardens, which will be on displayed in aid of Lewis-Manning Hospice Care and Prostrate Cancer UK
  • The Great Dorset Tea Party initiative which she will support in collaboration with her catering business, Goode Choice Catering
  • The Goode Time Ball, now in its third year and in memory of her dad, Ian Goode, will take place in October at Hoburne Park in Christchurch

Clare Gallie, Lewis-Manning Hospice Care chief executive, said: "Carly is enthusiastic and eager to help Lewis-Manning Hospice Care for the long term, which will help us succeed in delivering our mission to have a greater impact on individuals living with life limiting illnesses in Poole, Purbeck & East Dorset.

"We are thrilled she has chosen to work so closely with us and share her expertise and experiences."

She added: “As we enter this new and exciting phase we are looking for more local people to support our vision and help us promote our services to the wider community. We will be opening in Swanage from February and we are keen to attract ambassadors from Wareham, Swanage and Purbeck, as well as from the BH postcode areas.”

Ms Jervis-Goode said: “I am delighted to be an ambassador for Lewis-Manning Hospice Care. Clare and the team are a delight to work with and it's their passion that has inspired me to take on the role and do more for the charity."

On the Christmas Tree Wonderland plans, a spokesperson from BCP Council's tourism department, who organise the event, said: “We are in discussions regarding a number of initiatives associated with Christmas Tree Wonderland and nothing has been confirmed.”
