A MAN suffered a fractured ankle as a group of men attacked him in Christchurch in the early hours before stealing his phone and cash.

The robbery took place in the area of Fountain Way roundabout at around 3am on Thursday, February 13.

The victim, aged in his 20s, was approached by three men and assaulted. He sustained a fractured ankle and bruising to his legs, arms and upper body. He was taken to hospital for treatment.

PC Jim Perks, of Christchurch police, said: “We believe that the victim may have met the three men earlier in the night on Wednesday, February 12 at Cameron’s Club and Lounge.

“I am appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the incident, or have information about who was responsible, to please get in touch.”
