A MINI bus was seized by police at an East Dorset school for out of date road tax.

Officers from the Dorset Police No Excuse team were checking vehicles at Beaucroft School in Wimborne yesterday morning.

Police worked with other agencies, including the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency to check school buses and taxis.

It was reported that two taxis were found to have illegal tyres, which were changed by the AA while officers were still at the school. The drivers were dealt with accordingly, an officer from the team said.

Meanwhile, a privately-hired mini bus was seized for out of date road tax, which had expired in October last year.

The officer said: "This is believed to be an oversight on the company involved."

It was reported that the company went to the post office to sort the tax, so they could collect the vehicle from the compound in time for the afternoon school run.

UPDATED: This article originally stated, based on information reported by police, that a school mini bus had been seized. Dorset Police have since provided further information to state this was a privately-hired mini bus.
