A NEW Christchurch-themed MONOPOLY board will be available to buy within weeks.

And Christchurch Castle has been revealed as favourite to take up the Old Kent Road space, the first and most affordable space on the board.

Members of the public were asked to nominate locations around the town to feature on the board.

Voting has now closed and Winning Moves UK has revealed that the castle is a popular choice for Old Kent Road.

“Christchurch Castle is the perfect fit for Old Kent Road” said Afolabi Omotola, Custom Games Executive at Winning Moves UK. "We have just finished going through each and every vote that came so things aren’t completely final just yet.

"This unique new and official version of the world’s most famous board game features the great and good of Christchurch. We have been wonderfully spoilt for choice putting the game together and would like to thank everyone who sent in suggestions last year when we went through the public consultation process, which is now just about complete."

The game will be largely themed in sets including tourism, heritage, culture, shopping, education, business, charity and travel.

When the game was first launched last year it was suggested that players could even send their competitors to Poole instead of sending them to jail.

The new game will see the famous MONOPOLY streets like Mayfair and Park Lane give way to local favourites and landmarks such as Christchurch Priory which could possibly be spread over two MONOPOLY spaces.

The new game will be available from March at all major retailers, as well as online, including Amazon.
