A WOULD-BE burglar who tried to break in to a vegan restaurant in Bournemouth – causing 'extensive damage' – has been jailed.
Howard Martin Healy, of Upper Terrace Road in Bournemouth, tried to raid Mad Cucumber in the Triangle on New Year's Eve.
He failed in the bid to steal from the eatery, but caused damage in his efforts to get inside.
The 45-year-old appeared at Poole Magistrates' Court last week to admit attempted burglary.
He was sentenced to 18 weeks behind bars for the offence after magistrates heard of his 'poor record'.
The offence was also committed while Healy was on licence for a previous offence, it was heard.
The defendant was ordered to pay £130 compensation.
