An award-wining choir from Bournemouth are hoping to smash £100,000 raised for local causes at their upcoming concert in aid of the Prama Foundation.

Bournemouth Male Voice Choir are to hold a charity concert at the Spire Methodist Church in Poole on Saturday February 8 at 7.00pm, just £44 away from reaching the milestone.

Having raised £99,956 in four years for many charities, their next concert in aid of the Prama Foundation will tip them over the illustrious £100,000 figure.

Their Finance Manager, Rob Phillips, said: “We started keeping a more accurate record of our concerts from 2016 and were amazed at how quickly the figures mounted up.

“We have sung in at least 95 concerts in the last 4 years, including two big ones at the Lighthouse Concert Hall Poole in aid of the Bournemouth Hospital Charity.”

The concert will include a mix of harmony and solo performances of a variety of music, from Classical British and European music through New World and Contemporary music, plus some recent modern music.

Chris Beale, Director of PramaLife, said: “Central to our work at PramaLife is the recognition that ageing is something that everyone does.

“We want it to be an enjoyable experience, where people retain their independence, self-worth and dignity, the feedback we receive from older people confirms that we are achieving our aim.

“The proceeds from this fundraiser will go towards ensuring that we continue to deliver the clubs, groups and activities that enable this to happen.”

Entry for the event is free, but there will be a raffle and a retiring collection with all proceeds going to the Prama Foundation.
