IT was a shot at stardom for popstar hopefuls who queued up outside Jumpin Jaks in Bournemouth.
Some 40 wannabe idols put their vocal and stage talents on show for a possible place in a boy band who were being rumoured to become the next big thing.
The group needed a replacement for the third member who left to pursue a theatrical career
One by one ambitious candidate took to the stage to sing and reel off reasons why they should be given the opportunity thousands only ever dream of.
Two budding stars – one from Lyndhurst and one from Kent – were shortlisted at the event on January 27, 2000.
The group's manager Kevin Newton said: "We are looking for someone who has got the voice, looks and personality
